Who We Are

Mission

SAFE Samford is a group of students, alumni, faculty, and staff of Samford University working together to ensure that all LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning) members of the Samford community feel safe, welcomed, affirmed, and loved. We encourage constructive dialogue on issues related to sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, and faith. Accordingly, we strive to develop and enact practical strategies to promote and secure equal rights for LGBTQ individuals and their supporters at Samford.

Vision

Samford is a place where LGBTQ individuals and their allies can ask questions, express their thoughts, seek counsel, and exist as their true selves without fear of reprisal. Samford is a place where LGBTQ students, faculty, and staff are all treated equally to their heterosexual and cisgender peers.
